"Hands on" Emergency Preparedness Group

We would like to form a "hands-on" group for emergency preparedness. Rather than having a class with an instructor, we would like to help each other accomplish home emergency preparedness.
Topics which have come to mind are:
1. Assembling 72- hour kits-- bring your own materials and assemble them together during the meeting(also sharing ideas of where we can get bulk items at a reduced rate)
2. getting the canner from the home storage center, and bring items to can
3. search for/bring to the group recipes on using your home storage items (recipes you've tried)-- if they are brought on cards, they could be assembled on a ring
4. alternate heating/cooking sources- assemble/make your own heating source together as a group
5. planning for a pendemic- what we need to assemble- where to get the items.
each group would involve teaching each other and becoming involved in DOING something with what we learn.
These are only suggestions-- If you have any ideas, please send them to me and we'll share them!
Our first meeting will be on Tuesday, October 20 at 6:30 p.m. at Roxanne Blackman's. Reminders will be sent out. Please sign up in the R.S. Sunday binders if you are interested.
